An extensive two-month voyage around the Land Down Under is being halted in the wake of the death of an elderly female passenger who was abandoned by the ship on a distant tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the excursion for a pause. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned later that day after the crew discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt found her person the following day.

Officials are examining the incident, alongside police and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer announced that passengers and crew on the vessel were notified that the rest of the voyage had been called off due to the "tragic passing and previous technical problems".

In a statement, he added that passengers would be issued a full refund, and said the company was working "to organize the travel back of the individuals via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also released an updated communication, and said they had "provided a notice to the Captain" preventing any new passengers from getting on the liner.

The spokesperson said that they would inspect the ship in the port city upon its return.

Sequence of Events

The liner initially left the Australian port on 24 October, and was merely two days into the journey at the moment of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the first stop on the voyage.

Guests on the vessel - who generally pay substantial amounts of dollars to take part in the voyage - were ferried there for a daily excursion with the option of trekking or underwater exploration.

The daughter of the victim said that her family was "surprised and saddened that the ship left the island after an planned tour without my parent".

Through her comments, she portrayed her mother as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a member of a walking club.

Through an announcement, the Chief Executive verified that the company was "cooperating fully with investigators to aid their examination".

He mentioned that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has occurred" and had extended its total backing to the loved ones.

The liner accommodates up to a hundred twenty passengers with 46 personnel, according to company details. It was purpose-built to access distant areas of the nation's shoreline and is equipped with "auxiliary vessels" - small boats used to transport travelers on land visits.
