Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the area, generating wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Impact

Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk expected across various areas of both states.

Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.

This alert comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
